Silk Logistics Group has implemented a comprehensive program designed to ensure the safety and service of our people, our customers and the community. We place a strong emphasis on duty of care in all aspects of our service.
Our quality processes have enabled members of the Silk Logistics Group to achieved the following accreditations:
- AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000
- ATA Truck Safe Accreditation,
- Equipment Maintenance Accreditation (as part of the RTF Alternative Compliance Program),
- NHVAS accredited operator Roadworthiness,
- National Greenhouse Emissions Trading Scheme (NGERS)
- Basic and Advanced Fatigue Management Accreditation
- WA Fatigue Management Accreditation
In addition Silk Logistics have implemented:
- Comprehensive screening, medical and license check sand entry training for all new applicants.
- Motel accommodation catering for change overs for long run shuttle operations in remote areas.
- Option to provide 2 Up driver teams on East West long haul routes
- Internal and External training regarding Fatigue Management for all drivers.
- Annual medical assessments for all drivers.
- Regular performance evaluations and needs based training for all existing drivers.
- In house training of all workshop staff and regular training at suppliers, such as CMV, Kenworth, BP and others.
- Regular training conferences for all Silk Logistics management and staff.
Drivers & Safety
Driver Pool
All drivers are outfitted in uniforms in tune with the company's recognition that they are the "Front Line" of our business.
Our drivers are part of a performance based reward program. This provides drivers with the opportunity to gain further rewards for good performance. Performance is measured against a range of standards:
- Presentation & hygiene
- Work activities
- Relationship with staff, customers and the community
- Paperwork
- Adherence to company policies
Safety Checks
All drivers are required to complete a pre inspection checklist inspection sheet prior to departure, All drivers are required to complete a transit report that details any mechanical problems experienced during the trip, as part of our Truck Safe and Roadworthiness alternative compliance accreditation. Any problems experienced by the drivers either in the pre-trip inspection or during the trip is dealt with by over 60 workshop staff in our company workshops in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth or via our contracted partners in Sydney and Brisbane.

Silk Logistics has a proud heritage of workshop excellence in providing our Operations and thus our Customers with a World’s Best Service Standard.
Silk Logistics workshops employ over 60 mechanics and are strategically placed to best service the fleet situated in:
- Melbourne (Derrimut and Moorabbin)
- Adelaide (Gillman )
- Perth (Welshpool and Forrestfield)
Our own workshop operations are complimented and supported by our preferred manufacturers providers in both Sydney and Brisbane.
Our commitment to on time customer service extends to having strategically placed prime mover in Ceduna purely for the Silk Logistics Group to ensure our customer’s freight keeps moving in the event of equipment breakdown.
Silk Logistics workshops are also proud to have in its fleet management group not one but two winners of the Craig Roseneder Award for Technical and Maintenance Excellence in the Workshop. It’s the same management group that piloted and started the self regulation maintenance program with the South Australian Government and later was to become a National Program called the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) which has become the benchmark for the Industry in Maintenance standards.
